From'product going global' to 'ecological going global', the automotive industry is entering the global market with strong momentum
More and more Chinese brand car dealerships are opening on the streets of Europe. In Brazil, South America, consumers are queuing up to purchase a Chinese new energy vehicle. Chinese automobiles are galloping on the global stage with diversified export paths, drawing a new industrial landscape.
With the continuous advancement of technology and the growth of market demand, China's automobile exports continue to climb. The latest data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows that in the first half of this year, China's automobile exports were 3.083 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%.
The Chinese automotive industry has moved from the main battlefield of the domestic market to a strong global competition, which is not only reflected in the growth of sales, but also in the innovation of models and the depth of global layout. In recent years, the road for Chinese cars to go global has become increasingly broad, from product to ecological. Going global is no longer just about exporting products, but also a transformation towards localizing the entire industry chain.
In recent years, Chinese cars have performed outstandingly in overseas markets, with sales steadily increasing.
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, from 2022 to 2024, China's automobile exports reached 3.111 million units, 4.91 million units, and 5.859 million units respectively, and the contribution of exports to annual sales increased from 11.5% to 18.6%. China will also become the world's largest automobile exporting country in 2024. Since the beginning of this year, this trend has continued.
"At present, China's new energy vehicles are developing rapidly in the overseas market, leading the global transformation to electrification. In the development process of the automobile industry from big to strong, going to sea has become an indispensable link." Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary General of the China Automobile Association, said that new energy vehicles are an important factor in driving China's automobile exports.
Data shows that in the first half of this year, China exported 1.06 million new energy vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 75.2%. With the continuous expansion of the export scale of new energy vehicles, the export models are becoming increasingly diverse. Except for pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles perform well.
Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, analyzed that China's new energy vehicle exports performed better than expected in the first half of the year, mainly due to plug-in hybrid replacing pure electric vehicles as a new growth point for export growth, especially plug-in hybrid pickup trucks, which showed strong export performance and became a highlight of commercial vehicle new energy vehicle exports. The export of Chinese new energy vehicles to the Middle East and developed countries is showing a high-quality development trend, mainly exported to Western Europe and Asian markets.
The impressive performance of automobiles going global is not only a result of the transformation and upgrading of China's automobile industry, but also an important signal of the changing global pattern of the new energy vehicle industry. Behind the strong growth momentum is the concentrated release of technological and cost advantages. Chinese car companies have mastered core technologies and are able to achieve overtaking in the field of new energy vehicles. In addition, the cost-effectiveness of Chinese new energy vehicles is extremely high, "Zhang Xiang, a researcher at the Automotive Industry Innovation Research Center of North China University of Technology, told reporters. China's new energy vehicles started early and relied on a strong new energy vehicle industry chain to significantly reduce component costs.
